This programme is a non-profit organisation founded with an aim to support the impoverished populations of India through social development projects in the fields of education, health and livelihood. This organisation promotes international volunteering, cross-cultural exchange and responsible rural tourism to fuel its ongoing projects in Rajasthan, India

The programmes are well structured; work areas are carefully identified while keeping in mind the safety and comforts of volunteers. This project offers plenty of opportunities to their volunteers to experience local culture, century old traditions and customs, Indian way of living, learn new language and enjoy local excursions while volunteering.

Volunteers are accommodated in clean and comfortable rooms on twin sharing basis at a farm in rural area. The house has European toilets, 24 hour electricity and hot water facility. A spacious courtyard surrounds the living area. The volunteer house provides accommodation for 10 – 12 volunteers besides the host family. A host family lives on site to help look after you and to make sure that you gain as much as possible out of this project.

Meals are included in the cost. Volunteers are served with wholesome, tasty, home made vegetarian food 3 times a day while staying on the farm. Meals typically consist of eggs (included for western plates), Indian flat bread (chapati), dal, yogurt, rice and two different seasoned vegetarian based dishes. There is also a small store next to the camp with sweets, chips, nuts, soft drinks and other practical items. If you wish to prepare your own food the host family have very kindly agreed that you may use their kitchen.

Volunteers can assist local teachers in government primary schools. They teach basic English and Mathematics to the children of 6 to 11 years of age in a play way while developing their creativity and self esteem. Also, you will help the teachers in developing low cost teaching and learning aids.

Volunteers will assist at a child care centers in nursing 3 to 6 year olds with pre school education. You will be asked to develop the childrens creativity through drawing, painting and other modes of learning. You can play with the children and help serve a nutritious mid day meal every day and create a healthy and joyful environment at the centre to produce healthy children.

Volunteers help in renovating/decorating the work areas like schools, child care centers and other community institutions, constructing playgrounds and sports facilities, making much needed repairs to benches and tables, drawing educational posters and paintings that help the children and the community learn in a way that has a residual positive impact long after the volunteers have returned home. Volunteers also contribute in improving the natural environment through community awareness initiatives to clean littered garbage, place dustbins and plant trees in and around the villages.

Additionally, volunteers can play an important role by participating in various social activities that create a better platform to develop cross cultural exchange and understanding between the communities. Activities include:

  • Organising awareness campaigns in cooperation with the local coordinators to mobilize the community against spread and prevention of HIV/AIDS, social evils, superstitions, maltreatment and adopt small family norms.
  • Organising health camps for medical check up, vaccinations and medication

Not only do these activities improve the quality of life in the villages, they serve as a source of inspiration for residents who are grateful for the help volunteers provide. The schools and the day care centers become infinitely more fun and worth attending when the intriguing volunteers from abroad are helping out.

Volunteers are integrated into the daily life of a sweet, pleasant Indian family typical of others living in the rural area. While staying at the camp, volunteers are part of the household – not a tourist observing from a 'plastic' distance. Volunteers have a unique opportunity to absorb the essence of rural Rajasthan, a culture, the people and a way of life that have remained virtually unchanged for generations.
